UPDATE – Canadian Transit & Weather Updates – June 26, 2024

ONTARIO

ECC has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for:

The warning issued by Environment Canada states “At 2:32 PM EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain. This line of severe thunderstorms is located from Arkwood to Southwold, moving southeast at 50 km/h. Hazard: 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel size hail. Locations impacted include: Rodney, Blenheim, Rondeau Provincial Park, Ridgetown, John E. Pearce Provincial Park, Shedden, Morpeth, Highgate, Port Glasgow, West Lorne, Dutton, Iona, Port Talbot, Frome and Fingal. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors! Emergency Management Ontario recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”

ECC has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for:

The warning issued by Environment Canada states “Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain. There is a heightened risk of debris flows over areas impacted by burn scars. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.”
