NOVA SCOTIA

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for central and western mainland regions of the province.  70-90 km/hr wind gusts expected for Saturday.  ECC states – “Similar events in the past have led to: – scattered utility outages – delays and cancellations of ferry services – bridge restrictions for high sided vehicles”

NEWFOUNDLAND / LABRADOR

Wind and Rainfall Warning continues for Hopedale and vicinity as well as Nain and vicinity. ECC advises – “Northerly 80 km/h, except 100 along parts of the coast. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Rain, at times heavy, is expected. Heavy rain is expected to continue until this evening with 5 to 10 mm per hour possible. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.”

Traffic restrictions possible due to high wind conditions – warning in effect until 23:00.
