Winter Weather Advisory in effect for regions from Sault Ste Marie to North Bay. Environment Canada has issued the following statement – “A low pressure system will bring accumulating snow to the area. Snowfall will begin in the early afternoon for Sault Ste. Marie and reach North Bay later in the evening. The heaviest snowfall is expected through the evening and overnight hours, before tapering off on Tuesday. Locally higher amounts are possible over areas of higher terrain, which may exceed 15 cm.”
Ottawa region in for freezing rain tonight and heading into Tuesday. The warning issued by ECC is as follows – “A low pressure system could bring freezing rain to the area beginning tonight. Temperatures in the affected area are forecast to hover around zero degrees Celsius overnight and Tuesday morning. As a result, ice accretion on the ground and road surfaces is expected to be variable as the ground is still relatively warm. However, icy conditions are possible, especially on elevated surfaces like bridges, overpasses and untreated roadways.”
