As part of our commitment to keeping you informed, we would like to provide advance notice of potential transportation and service impacts within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with several matches scheduled to be held at BMO Field.
Beginning with the first match on Friday, June 12, and continuing through early July, the City of Toronto is expected to experience significantly increased traffic volumes, road restrictions, and event-related congestion. Areas anticipated to be most affected include Exhibition Place, Fort York, and surrounding downtown transportation corridors.
What This Means for You
Customers located within or near impacted areas may experience:
- Increased traffic congestion and extended transit times
- Road closures and restricted access to certain locations
- Reduced flexibility for pickups and deliveries on match days
- Potential delays, particularly during peak event periods
The most significant disruptions are expected:
- On match days
- Approximately 3 hours before kickoff through 2 hours after the conclusion of each match
With attendance projected to reach 65,000 spectators per match, freight movement and terminal access may be affected.

- Adjusting routes and delivery plans
- Modifying delivery windows where operationally feasible
- Increasing coordination between drivers, dispatch, and local terminals
- Monitoring real-time traffic conditions and municipal updates
How You Can Help Minimize Delays
To ensure the best possible service during this period, we recommend:
- Scheduling pickups and deliveries earlier in the day or during off-peak hours whenever possible
- Providing flexible delivery windows
- Advising us of time-sensitive or critical shipments in advance
- Allowing additional transit time for freight moving into affected areas
Our Commitment
While we will make every effort to maintain the high level of service you expect, some delays may be unavoidable due to city-wide traffic management measures and event-related congestion beyond our control.
