Happy St. Patrick’s Day – Transport Delays

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Northern and western Vancouver Island along with the Central Coast have seen nearly 200mm of rain resulting in flood watches.  Coast Mountains are at high risk for avalanches.

ALBERTA

Wind warnings in effect for western and southern Alberta.  Winds up to 110 km/hr are expected and may result in dangerous travel, especially with high-sided vehicles.  Transportation, pick up and delivery delays possible.

ONTARIO

MULTIPLE HIGHWAY CLOSURES:

  • HWY 21 – KINCARDINE TO PORT ELGIN
  • HWY 11 – NORTH BAY TO LONGLAC
  • HWY 144 – CARTIER TO HWY 101
  • HWY 101 – HWY 129 TO FOLEYET
  • HWY 101 – HWY 129 TO WAWA
  • HWY 129 – WHARNCLIFFE TO HWY 101
  • HWY 17 – BATCHAWANA BAY TO WHITE RIVER

Hazardous driving conditions will be widespread in the following regions:

  • GTA
  • NIAGARA
  • KINGSTON
  • CORNWALL
  • LAKE HURON
  • GEORGIAN BAY

Snowbelt regions can expect road closures and school/business closures.  Transportation delays are expected across the board today for Ontario.

QUEBEC

The province can expect heavy snow, sleet and strong winds resulting in dangerous driving conditions – non-essential travel should be postponed. 

Multiple regions are without power:

  • MONTEREGIE
  • MONTREAL
  • LARUETIANS
  • LANAUDIERE

Wind warnings in effect for Quebec City and surrounding area and the Eastern Townships.

Delays in transport expected.

ZONE 1 Thaw Period has begun – load restrictions now in effect.

NEW BRUNSWICK

Southern regions of the province under Rainfall and Wind warning.  Up to 25mm or higher possible and may result in localized flooding.

NOVA SCOTIA

Mainland under Wind and Rainfall warning – up to 30mm possible.  Localized flooding possible.  100 km/hr winds may result in power outages and put high-sided vehicles at risk for tipping.  Expect delays in transport.
